Obverse: Crowned Bust
Reverse: Fire Altar, Attendants
Tarbaristan was a kingdom on the southern
edge of the Caspian Sea (now Northern Iran). Although Tarbaristan fell during
the Muslim conquest and was introduced to Islam, the coin is modeled after coins
of the preceding Sassanian Empire
